This honey and lemon tea is healthy and ready in just a few minutes! It helps clear your mind and sets you up for the day. Also, it works as a great afternoon pick-me-up, perfect home remedy for a cold, flu, sore throat and cough, and a natural way to relieve period pain!
Honey And Lemon Tea
Isn't honey and lemon one of the greatest flavor combinations ever? I'm a big fan of honey lemon tea. It's one of the easiest drinks to make. It requires very few ingredients which are pretty much what you normally have in your pantry. Plus, it takes literally 5 minutes to make, provides a lot of health benefits and, more importantly, it also tastes good! There's something so soothing about this drink that makes it such a great simple, natural mood lifter.
The Stars Of This Drink (Honey And Lemon)
Honey has always been something I keep in my pantry. I enjoy it with stuff like Greek yogurt and use it in things like my Overnight Oats and this Honey Yuzu Sauce for my salads. It's a great natural sweetener and who doesn't love the smell of it?
As for lemons, you might have read in my recent post that we grow lemons at home in Bangkok. In Thailand lemons are a lot more expensive than limes and available mostly at supermarkets. I've never seen them in local markets which (I would say) are where the majority of the population actually shops. Luckily, last year two of our lemon trees began fruiting really well and we've enjoyed our lemons in so many ways.
Apart from this honey lemon tea, I use them to make things like lemon curd, lemon tarts and another refreshing drink like this Fresh Peach Lemonade. When our lemons trees aren't fruiting, I just switch to limes because we grow them as well. If you also grow them, find out how to preserve lime juice on my blog.
Drinking Green Tea and Lemon and Honey?
The simplest way to make honey and lemon tea is to make it with warm water. However, I especially like it with green tea (the cups you see in the pictures in this post are made with green tea). I get that people like different kinds of tea but green tea is my go to tea for many reasons.
If you Google green tea health benefits, you will find so many! For example, it can help you increase fat burning, reduce risk of cancers and improve brain function. I find the last benefit to be quite true for myself. If you work in front of the computer all day like me and you like tea, you'll probably agree that there's nothing quite like starting your day with a soothing cup of tea. Doing this helps me clear my mind and sets me up for the day. But then of course, there are no fixed rules about honey lemon tea. Sometimes I simply go with warm water, honey and lemon! It's great either way but you can pretty much do it however you want - water or any tea you like. In fact, black tea is a good choice too.
Benefits Of Honey And Lemon Tea
There are so many ones out there but here are a few examples that have been tested and tried by myself:
* It's refreshing - just a great drink to fully wake you up in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
* It's one of the easiest drinks you can make at home to increase your immunity - the perfect cold, flu, sore throat and cough remedy. If you take ginger you can also add a few slices of that to this tea too!
* It's a natural way to relieve period pain (peppermint tea and ginger tea are also great for menstrual cramps if you don't fancy green tea).
Caution About This Drink
As lemon juice is acidic, it can erode tooth enamel. If you make and drink this honey and lemon tea, I recommend you rinse your mouth and drink water afterward. I do this after I have this tea every time - in fact pretty much any kind of tea if I'm at home because it can prevent tooth stains.
