Equipment

Ingredients

  • 5 strawberries fresh or thawed
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ice
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • ¼ cup water room temperature
  • cup almond milk

Instructions

  • In a small container, add strawberries and granulated sugar and mash them with a muddler. Make sure the sugar is thoroughly dissolved and mixed with the strawberries. Set aside.
  • Sift matcha powder into a small bowl. Pour in room temperature water and whisk vigorously from side to side with a bamboo whisk until smooth and foamy on top.
  • In a glass, add the strawberry sauce to the bottom.
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour in milk, leaving about ¼ of the glass for the matcha.
  • Pour the matcha over the milk and ice. Stir to enjoy.

Notes

  1. Clumping is a sign of high quality matcha. So make sure you don't skip the sifting.
  2. Use room temperature or cold water. If you use boiling water, you risk burning your matcha powder.
  3. If you don't have a bamboo whisk, you can use a milk frother to mix matcha powder with water.
