Crab Rigatoni with Creamy Scrumptious White Sauce

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Hua Hin and made our usual stop on the way back to Bangkok at Mae Klong Seafood Market. Every time we drive back from that side of the country, we stop there to pick up seafood.

If you live in Thailand and enjoy seafood, you need to visit this market because they have all kinds of seafood the prices aren’t that bad. I mean, they’re not as good as they used to be, but still you can get fresher and cheaper seafood than you can get in Bangkok there. Also, if you can, try and go there on a weekday and you might be surprised to see things a little cheaper.

Well, you won’t be surprised now because I told you. 😛

Anyway, back to the purpose of this post! We got some steamed lump crab meat from that market but I didn’t feel like eating crab omelette or crab fried rice, which are  some of the dishes we normally use steamed crab meat in. I was craving something creamy so I went a creamy crab pasta dish instead. I used the white sauce recipe that I swear by but swapped the usual bacon for crab meat instead and it was just as scrumptious! To the sauce I also added spinach to make sure that I got my vegetable in.

Everything in this dish just goes so well. If you’re looking for a filling, satisfying recipe to use your crab meat in or you’re just looking for a delicious pasta recipe, definitely give this one a try. You won’t be disappointed. 🙂


Crab Rigatoni with Creamy Scrumptious White Sauce Recipe

A creamy, scrumptious Crab Rigatoni with white sauce that is perfect for lunch or dinner.

  • 200 grams dry rigatoni
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 head garlic minced
  • 100 grams lump crab meat
  • 70 grams fresh spinach leaves
  • 150 ml pasta cream
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Salmon roe (optional)


  1. Boiled a large pot of water and cook the pasta. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan add oil and saute the garlic over a medium-low heat. Add the spinach and stir.
  3. Pour the cream and the milk in. Add oregano, paprika and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Add the crab meat and gently mix it with the sauce. Take extra care not the break it.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the pan and mix with the sauce. Top with salmon roe and serve.
